Introduction to Mat Pilates

Your body is the equipment.

At Dandelight, our Mat Pilates classes are all about controlled movement, deep core strength, and intentional sequences designed to make you feel stronger, more connected, and more aware of how your body moves.

Our classes are rooted in the principles of Pilates while bringing a contemporary energy to the mat. Using your own body weight and selected props, we play with resistance, stability, balance, and control to create a practice that challenges the whole body. No complicated machines needed. Just you, the mat, and movement with purpose.

Find your challenge.

Some days you'll feel strong. Some days you'll shake. Some days simply finding control is the challenge.

That's part of the practice. Whether you're discovering Pilates for the first time or have been practicing for years, our teachers offer variations that allow you to meet your body where it is—and challenge it from there.

Don't let the simplicity fool you.

The smallest movements can create the biggest challenge. Expect deep core work, controlled repetitions, and exercises that might look easy—until you're halfway through them.

What kind of Pilates do you offer?
We offer Mat Pilates—a floor-based practice that uses your own body weight; no reformer machines are involved.
What can I expect from a Pilates class?
Mat Pilates focuses on core strength, stability, posture, and body control. Movements are slow and deliberate, with a strong emphasis on breath and precise execution. It targets deep, stabilizing muscles – so expect a "controlled challenge" rather than an intense burn.
What's the difference between Pilates and Sculpt?
While Pilates focuses on core strength, stability, and controlled, precise movement, Sculpt is more about muscle toning and definition through dynamic, higher-rep movements – often using light weights, bands, or ankle weights. Think "controlled and focused" for Pilates versus "burn and build" for Sculpt.
Is Pilates suitable for beginners?
Absolutely – Mat Pilates is suitable for every fitness level. If it's your first time, we recommend chatting with your instructor beforehand so they can give you tips tailored to you.
Do I need to bring my own equipment?
No – everything you need is provided, including your mat. Just show up ready to move.
